Tips and Guidance for parents and young athletes on competing in Track and Field Open Meetings and League Meetings
Members of Telford AC are encouraged to compete in Track and Field at Open Meetings and League meetings but the first time can be a bit daunting
This section aims to help with making your experience an enjoyable one by explaining some of the details and what to expect.
It may not answer all your questions but if you need to know something please speak to the team manager or your coach who will be happy to help
To compete at club level is one of the reasons you train every week. Your ability is not as important as the aim at every competition is to beat your personal best (PB) so you see your own improvement
Winning is not always possible and if you watch the elite athletes you will see that they also aim to beat their PB’s at competition
Your athletic journey may not end up on top of an Olympic rostrum but improvement is definitely something to celebrate
Keep a diary if possible so you have the details of each competition you attend
Most competitions with graded officials with send results to Power of 10 website. If you look up your name and club on there you will see almost all your performances and your current ranking within the club and UK
Some athletes are not aware of this website but it is very informative about every athlete who is registered with the EA
